Course Outline

Three basic components form the basis of this course:

 

(1) EVERY MAN'S WORDS which focuses on the study of the short story. In this section, you will educate your imagination by examining short stories that are of particular appeal to secondary students today.

 

(2) YOUR WORDS which focuses on the teacher as writer and teacher of writing. In this section, you will develop your imagination using the writing skills, attitudes and processes of professional writers.

 

(3) CLASSICAL WORDS which focuses on the study of Shakespeare. You will learn ways to bring Shakespeare to the classroom in ways that are inventive and student-centered.

 

PREREQUISITE(S): EDUC 401/402. Students who have received credit for EDUC 472 prior to the 2001-2 semester, may not take this course for further credit.
